Cooperation with the IAEA discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan
On February 11, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Director of the Division for Europe of the Department of Technical Cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Eve-Kulli Kala.
During the meeting, the parties noted the intensification of cooperation of Turkmenistan with the IAEA in coherence with the main objective of the Agency - use atomic energy for peace, health and prosperity throughout the world.
The sides discussed current and prospective joint projects, including modernization of the radiotherapy service, updating the legislative base on radiation safety.
It was noted at the meeting that it is the Department of Technical Cooperation that is the main partner of Turkmenistan within the IAEA. The parties also discussed the development of the IAEA Framework Programme for Turkmenistan.
In addition, they discussed the issues of involving IAEA experts in the framework of construction of the International Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center in Ashgabat.
The parties also noted the importance of interaction between the IAEA departments and specialized agencies of Turkmenistan.
