Turkmenistan and the UN discussed cooperation on countering modern threats

On November 7, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova met with Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.

During the talks, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation on countering modern challenges and threats.

Particular attention was paid to joint efforts to implement the UNODC Program for Central Asia for 2022-2027 and the Roadmap for Further Strengthening Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNODC for 2022-2025, as well as the development of a new roadmap between the sides.

The key theme of discussion was the promotion of the draft Agreement on the Financing of Joint Programs Aimed at Developing National Capacity to Counter Cross-Border Threats.

The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to continue constructive cooperation with the UNODC across a wide range of areas, including cybersecurity, combating synthetic drugs, and human trafficking.
