President of Turkmenistan received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan
On May 22, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the successive meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to visit Turkmenistan again and discuss promising areas of bilateral cooperation, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the head of state and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag.
Prime Minister Asadov noted that Azerbaijan highly values the successes of Turkmenistan in the socio-economic sphere.
Expressing best wishes to the highest leadership of Azerbaijan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the guest for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan and emphasized that the participation of Ali Asadov in the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government confirms the commitment of the Republic of Azerbaijan to further strengthening of multilateral cooperation within the CIS.
The head of state expressed confidence that the decisions adopted at the meeting would contribute to strengthening of the relations between the CIS Member States, and that the current visit of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan would provide a powerful impulse for taking interstate cooperation to a new level.
During the conversation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, and their fraternal peoples, are united by centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness. This serves as a strong foundation for further strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial ties.
It was noted with satisfaction that due to strong political will of the leadership of two countries, relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan are developing dynamically.
During the meeting, the active cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan within reputable international organizations, particularly the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, was emphasized.
The head of state noted the importance of the work of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation in deepening the bilateral partnership. In this context, the necessity to fully engage existing potential was emphasized, primarily in energy, logistics, and transport, given the favorable geographic location of two countries at the crossroads of Asia and Europe.
Highlighting the importance of further developing cultural-humanitarian ties, the President reaffirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan to developing comprehensive cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister Asadov emphasized the importance of maintaining regular dialogue at the highest state level and invited President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Azerbaijan at any time convenient for him.
Concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov exchanged good wishes and expressed confidence that effective interstate cooperation will continue to develop on a wide range of areas for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of two countries.
