Talks between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan took place in Ashgabat

On July 1, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.

During the constructive conversation, the Ministers noted that due to a trusting dialogue and mutual political will of the two heads of state, the Turkmen-Kazakh strategic partnership is developing steadily. The diplomats discussed in detail the practical implementation of previously reached agreements at the highest level.

The parties placed particular emphasis on strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation. They expressed mutual readiness to maintain regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, including through bilateral political consultations. In the context of discussing the regional and international agenda, the heads of Foreign Ministries reaffirmed their commitment to mutually supporting the initiatives and proposals of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan at the UN and other reputable global platforms. In this context, the sides focused on preparations for major high-level international events scheduled for Turkmenistan this year.

Speaking about trade-economic cooperation, the parties emphasized the importance of intensifying ties in transport, logistics, energy, and industrial sectors. They also noted the coordinating role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation in diversifying mutual trade and stimulating investment activity.

Discussing cultural and humanitarian partnership, they acknowledged the importance of deepening traditional contacts in science, education, and culture. The Ministers expressed support for holding joint cross-cultural events that will bring together and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the fraternal peoples of the two countries.

Following the talks, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensively expanding multifaceted intergovernmental dialogue.
