MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

On September 15, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Samarkand to participate as an honored guest in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Expressing gratitude to his Uzbek colleague for the invitation, the head of state thanked him for the hospitality and warm welcome and conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that he was very pleased to once again receive the head of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan. This once again confirms the special nature of bilateral relations, which, thanks to the efforts of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, have reached a truly strategic level, the Uzbek leader emphasized, addressing his best wishes to his good and kind friend Arkadag.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on priority areas of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation, which is successfully developing both in bilateral and regional formats. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciates relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan and attaches great importance to the development of mutually beneficial relations with its close neighbor and reliable partner.

According to the mutual opinion of the parties, the distinctive features of the interstate dialogue are equality, mutual respect, openness and trust, understanding of the importance of further strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two fraternal peoples and countries.

As noted, one of the main directions of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan is partnership within the framework of authoritative international structures, including with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with which our country has been successfully cooperating for many years, participating as an honored guest in the SCO Summits. This fact is considered as a sign of high respect for the foreign policy neutral course of Turkmenistan, the head of state stated.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to friendly and trusting relations with the SCO member states, the intention to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
