MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

On September 15, 2022, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Samarkand to participate as an honored guest at the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Having warmly welcomed his Turkmen colleague, the head of the friendly state congratulated him on his convincing victory in the Presidential elections held on March 12 this year and sincerely wished him great success in his large-scale activities in the highest state post.

Thanking for the congratulations and expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on the agenda of bilateral cooperation within the framework of a personal meeting, the head of state conveyed warm greetings to the Chinese leader on behalf of Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Taking the opportunity, the head of Turkmenistan wished a successful holding of the upcoming XX Congress of the Communist Party of China, expressing confidence that the important decisions taken at it would further strengthen the political and economic power of fraternal China.

Today, both countries are not only actively developing bilateral relations, filling them with new content, but also effectively interacting in the international arena. During the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, including within the framework of the "Central Asia + China" format.

In order to further develop political relations, the President of Turkmenistan proposed to instruct the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries to prepare a Roadmap, which would include proposals to intensify contacts at the highest state level and develop intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations.

In this regard, taking into account the existing huge potential for cooperation, it was proposed to prepare and hold the next meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Joint Committee.

The readiness of the Turkmen side was also expressed to consider the issue of signing a bilateral document on pairing the One Belt One Road strategy with the concept of Revival of the Great Silk Road.

Along with this, the parties stressed the importance of further expanding and strengthening ties in education, science, culture, healthcare and other socially significant areas.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of the two states exchanged mutual good wishes, expressing confidence in the steady buildup of a productive dialogue that fully meets the state interests and priorities of the socio-economic development of the two friendly countries.
