Uniqueness of Arkadag smart city was marked with awards at the World Smart City Expo in the Republic of Korea

On 4 September 2024, the Arkadag city has received three awards at the World Smart City Expo 2024 held in Goyang, Republic of Korea.

The high awards were presented to national and foreign cities, as well as to companies that have achievements in various industries. It is noteworthy that the smart city Arkadag became the first participant of the event to receive an award.

The following awards were presented to the Turkmen side: “Smart City Excellence Award”, which was awarded only to Arkadag city, as well as awards in the nominations “Foreign City Award” and “For the Great Contribution to the World Smart City Expo 2024”.

The head of the Turkmen delegation D.Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan, gave an appreciation speech at the award ceremony.

D. Orazov noted that the Korean side held the World Expo at a high organizational level, while the technologies and systems of “smart cities” presented at the World Smart City Expo 2024 reflect the most advanced trends that meet modern standards.

In this context, the achievements of the smart city Arkadag participating in the exhibition were highly appraised. Expressing gratitude for the awards, the head of the Turkmen delegation highlighted that they were a recognition of the successes achieved in the field of national urban development under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

It is worthwhile to note that in addition to the regions of the Republic of Korea, Turkmenistan, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Malaysia, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Kingdom of Denmark, Finland and the State of Israel, including local and foreign companies, participated in the World Smart City Expo 2024.

A total of 116 pavilions were displayed at the exhibition, with representatives from more than 60 countries, including those at the ministerial and governor levels.
