The President of Turkmenistan met with Emperor of Japan Naruhito

On April 15, 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a visit to Japan, met with Emperor Naruhito. The meeting took place at the Imperial Palace.

Having warmly greeted the President, the Emperor of Japan noted with satisfaction that relations between the two friendly countries had reached a qualitatively new level and emphasized the importance of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first visit to Japan.

The Emperor also congratulated on the high-level organization of the National Day of Turkmenistan within the framework of EXPO-2025. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan's participation in this exhibition is evidence of the successes it has achieved in all areas.

Having thanked for the kind words and hospitality, the head of state congratulated Emperor Naruhito on the opening of the World Exhibition in Japan and expressed confidence that the current meeting would be an important milestone in further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Emperor Naruhito from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Emperor noted the great personal contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty to the development of bilateral relations, addressing Hero Arkadag with warm greetings and best wishes in return.

During the meeting, the parties noted the great potential for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Japan is known for its high technology and dynamic pace of industrialization. In turn, Turkmenistan, which has colossal natural resources, strives to use them effectively with the involvement of Japanese technology.

Japan is one of Turkmenistan's leading partners in the field of high technology, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, expressing confidence in the effectiveness of further cooperation for both countries in areas such as renewable energy, information technology, ecology and sustainable development.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere was named among the key vectors of bilateral relations. As was emphasized, Japanese culture, art and traditions have always aroused deep respect and interest in Turkmenistan. And in Japan, there is a high interest in Turkmen culture.

Speaking about the importance of partnership in the field of education, Emperor Naruhito noted that teaching the Japanese language in higher education institutions and comprehensive schools in Turkmenistan is a noteworthy fact.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan highly values cooperation with Japan. Confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to further strengthen cooperation, the head of state expressed gratitude to Emperor Naruhito for his enormous personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Emperor of Japan Naruhito expressed confidence that the strategic partnership will continue to strengthen for the benefit of the peoples of the two friendly countries and exchanged best wishes.
