Football Tournament was held in Tbilisi, dedicated to International Year of Peace and Trust
From 27 May to 2 June 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held a football tournament with the participation of football teams, as well as clubs “Sportuni” of the Georgian University of Sport and “Kartli” of the Vake Football Centre. FC “Kartli”, founded in 1991, has raised many famous Georgian sportsmen.
Prior to the commencement of the tournament, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia Mr. D. Seyitmammedov noted that the tournament was held in celebration of International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
He stressed that thanks to the efforts of the President of Turkmenistan, a lot of work is being done in the country to actively promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle, popularize and develop physical culture and sports, strengthen international cooperation in this sphere.
He added that the sports diplomacy of independent and neutral Turkmenistan is aimed at enhancing international sports cooperation for the sake of peace and progress.
Touching on the meeting between President of Turkmenistan Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Georgia Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze held in Ashgabat on 7 March 2025, the Ambassador highlighted the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Sports between the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Sports of Georgia. In this respect, this football tournament is a clear example of the implementation of this Memorandum.
During the seven-day tournament, the young footballers showed a beautiful, emotional and competitive game.
At the end of the tournament, the participants were awarded certificates.
