The meeting between the Chairmen of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation

On June 23, 2025, a meeting was held via videoconference between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation Rashid Meredov and the Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations. In this regard, it was noted that contacts at high and the highest levels play an important role in the development of interstate relations.    

The importance of the visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan in April 2025 was emphasized, within the framework of which bilateral talks at the highest level were held, including the meeting with representatives of the Japanese business community. In this regard, the sides discussed specific proposals put forward by the President of Turkmenistan aimed at further expanding trade and economic cooperation with Japan.

Noting the sustainable and long-term nature of the economic partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan, it was emphasized that the active work of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation serves as an important mechanism for this collaboration.  

During the meeting, the attainment of previously reached agreements, as well as issues of implementing new projects in the gas chemical and agricultural industries, were discussed.
