A meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation was held in Ashgabat

On June 25, 2025, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.O. Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit.

During the meeting with the participation of representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, the parties discussed key aspects of interaction between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The ministers noted the importance of regular and trusting dialogue between the leadership of Turkmenistan and Russia, which contributes to the further advancement of interstate relations.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry especially emphasized that an important factor in the deepening strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia is a constructive dialogue at the highest state level.

In this regard, Minister Lavrov noted the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Moscow to participate in the celebrations in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The importance of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation to participate in the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2025" was emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda of the upcoming consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

An exchange of views on regional and international issues was also held. The fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Russian partnership in multilateral formats, including the UN, the CIS, the Caspian "five", as well as "Central Asia - Russia" format was noted.

At the meeting, issues related to trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries were discussed in detail. Following the meeting, a signing ceremony of the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2025-2026 took place.
