From 26 to 28 June 2025, in Brussels, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan Maksat Hudaykuliyev took part in the 145th and 146th sessions of the Council of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Turkmenistan and the WCO, according to which the Training Centre at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan will be officially recognised as a Regional training centre of the WCO. This decision was unanimously supported by all 186 member states of the Organization.

The new status of the center will allow training for customs officers not only from Turkmenistan but also from other countries in the region. The training will meet international standards, offering training, practical classes, scientific research and the participation of international experts.

During the visit, a meeting between the delegation of Turkmenistan and WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders was held, during which the sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation, including customs risk management, digitalization of customs processes and advanced training of personnel.
