Hero Arkadag met with the Head of the Turkmen-Austrian Friendship Group

On December 10, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Head of the Turkmen-Austrian Friendship Group Ms. Neda Berger, who is visiting Turkmenistan.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guest sincerely congratulated Hero Arkadag on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, as well as noted the importance and relevance of the peacekeeping initiatives of the country on the international arena.

Warmly welcoming the head of the Turkmen-Austrian Friendship Group, who arrived on the eve of International Day of Neutrality, Hero Arkadag emphasized that Turkmenistan consistently implements its policy of permanent neutrality, recognized by the UN and serving as an important tool for strengthening peace and trust.

Noting that this year, declared as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” marks the 30th anniversary of our country’s neutrality, the National Leader of the turkmen people expressed confidence that current visit of Neda Berger to Turkmenistan, as well as her participation in the celebratory events, will be an important step toward expanding Turkmen-Austrian relations and will give new impetus to the further development of a mutually beneficial partnership.

As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the Republic of Austria. The importance of consistently strengthening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties was particularly emphasized.

The sides agreed that mutual cultural enrichment through joint events, exhibitions, and scientific conferences contributes to the deepening of bilateral relations.

In this context, the Turkmen-Austrian Friendship Group serves as a bridge between Turkmenistan and Austria. Noting the significant contribution of Ms. Neda Berger, who has headed this group for many years, to the development of friendly interstate relations, the National Leader of the Turkmen People emphasized the importance of joint cultural events.

Expressing her sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag for his high assessment of her work, Ms. Neda Berger noted the significance of far-sighted initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen People aimed at strengthening peace and sustainable development, and emphasized that the strong support of Hero Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov serves as the foundation for the progressive development of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
