World Turkic Language Family Day was celebrated in Tbilisi

On 27 January 2026, Yunus Emre Institute hosted an event dedicated to World Turkic Language Family Day.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan, Turkiye, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, professors and teachers of educational institutions.

It was noted that UNESCO's proclamation of 15 December as World Turkic Language Family Day is an important step aimed at safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and supporting global linguistic diversity.

Addressing the audience, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia D.Seyitmammedov emphasized that Turkic languages are more than just a means of communication, they are living bridges between generations, preserving the history, philosophy and poetry of peoples, and deeply enriching the spiritual development of humanity. He particularly noted that World Turkic Language Family Day will contribute to the conduct of extensive scientific research and the development of global dialogue aimed at preserving Turkic languages, as well as cultural rapprochement and strengthening ties between civilizations.
