Priority areas of Turkmen-Russian cooperation discussed

On January 29, 2026, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin.

The sides confirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Russian relations, noting their multifaceted nature and steady development. It was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest level play a decisive role in bilateral interaction.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation highly appreciated Turkmenistan's activities in the international arena, carried out in accordance with the country's status of permanent neutrality.

During the meeting, key issues of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.

It was noted that Turkmenistan and Russia demonstrate a high level of interaction on the international stage, primarily within the framework of the UN. Among other formats of cooperation, the CIS was highlighted, with Turkmenistan holding the chairmanship this year.

The sides also exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda.
