President of Turkmenistan and President of Uzbekistan have telephone conversation on the eve of the New Year

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation on December 30.

Warmly welcoming each other, the heads of the two states exchanged congratulations on the upcoming New Year, wishing health, happiness, great achievements in all endeavors and joint work for the benefit of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples.

The leaders of the friendly countries focused on favorable prospects for further building up cooperation in all spheres.

At the same time, it was emphasized that great importance was attached to strengthening cooperation within the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that in 2020, people all around the world had faced an extremely serious challenge that covered a vast geographic space, affecting the life of many states and peoples, but Uzbekistan carried out most of the planned events aimed at strengthening partnership within the Commonwealth.

Thanking for the kind words, the head of the friendly state underlined that Uzbekistan highly appreciated the efforts of the Turkmen leader to intensify the political, legal, trade, economic and humanitarian ties of the CIS countries, imparting new quality to regional cooperation.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev focused on the solid potential for further building up a multifaceted partnership, including in the fuel and energy complex, industrial sector, transport and communications, agro-industrial complex and in a number of other areas of large-scale joint projects that meet the goals of economic prosperity of both countries and the region as a whole.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral trade and economic ties. It was expressed the readiness to strengthen cooperation between political parties and legislative bodies, and further encourage direct contacts.

The plans for holding joint events on an interstate basis, including business and cultural ones, and contacts at the level of international structures, primarily the United Nations, were considered. The leaders of the two states also discussed the preparatory work for the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in the coming year.

In conclusion of the conversation, expressing confidence that the relations of the two states, based on the historical and cultural, centuries-old good-neighborly ties would continue to develop successfully, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again exchanged congratulations on the coming New Year and wishes for further prosperity to the peoples of the both countries.
