MEETING OF THE CO-CHAIRMEN OF TURKMEN-JAPANESE COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION

On May 31, 2021, the meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, Managing Executive Officer of “ITOCHU Corporation” Hiroyuki Tsubai was held through videoconferencing.

During the meeting, the parties highly appraised the level of Turkmen-Japanese relations in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The importance of mutual visits on the highest level for the development of bilateral ties was stated.

Special emphasis at the meeting was made on trade-economic relations between the two countries. The analysis of current projects was made, as well as the promising vectors of cooperation in the oil and gas, gas-chemical and processing industries, in the transport field and others were considered.

The parties noted the efficiency of multiyear partnership based on mutual respect, account of reciprocal interests and equality. In this regard, the successfully implemented projects in Turkmenistan in participation of Japanese companies were highlighted, including the plant for the production of ammonia and carbamide in the city of Mary, a gas chemical complex in the village of Kiyanly, a plant for the production of carbamide in the city of Karabogaz, and the plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas (GTG) in the Akhal velayat of Turkmenistan. The ongoing construction of the modern gas-turbine electric power plant in the Lebap region was stated.

The parties discussed further steps on the implementation of joint projects in cooperation with the leading financial institutions and taking into account the current economic circumstances in the world.
