Political consultations were held at the level of heads of departments of the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Morocco
On January 28, 2026, political consultations were held in Ashgabat at the level of heads of structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Turkmen side was represented at the talks by the head of the Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Moroccan delegation was headed by Omar Kadiri, Director for Asian Affairs and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the consultations, the diplomats discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Effective interaction between the two countries within international and regional organizations, primarily the United Nations, was noted, as evidenced by the practice of mutual support for initiatives put forward by both sides.
The sides expressed interest in developing trade and economic ties. The oil and gas, chemical and textile industries, agriculture and tourism were identified as priority areas for cooperation.
In this context, the possibility of establishing a Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was considered. The expediency of organizing meetings between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries with the participation of representatives of the business community to promote this process was noted.
The prospects for expanding cultural-humanitarian ties were also discussed.
The sides emphasized the importance of the existing legal framework and agreed to intensify dialogue on the development of new bilateral documents in the areas of foreign policy cooperation, transport, education, science, and others.
