POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND GEORGIA
On February 25, 2016 Turkmen-Georgian political consultations at the level of the Deputy Foreign Ministers has been held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Georgian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Mr. David Jalagania.
During the consultations the parties discussed mutual plans for the current year taking into account bilateral interests. The agenda of the consultations included the issues of activation of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia on broad range of fields. Having underlined the high level of political-diplomatic cooperation, the sides discussed the possibilities of further strengthening bilateral and multilateral interaction in this direction. In this context the parties singled out the role of the high-level visits and adherence of the parties to the further implementation of the agreements reached in a systematic manner.
Speaking about trade and economic interaction, the two sides discussed ways of intensifying mutual contacts in the light of the bringing relations in this field to a new level. Among the issues of mutual interest, perspective opportunities to strengthen transit and transport links, as well as cooperation in the field of energy and communications were noted.
Regarding cultural and humanitarian component of the relations the parties noted the positive role of holding joint cultural events, as well as the parties' commitment to the development of cooperation in tourism.
During his visit, Mr. David Jalagania was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the meeting the sides discussed issues of stirring up of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
