THE OFFICIAL VISIT OF PRESIDENT GURBANGULY BERDIMUHAMEDOV TO THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN

In the morning on March 16, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for a two-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. A few hours later the president airliner landed at the international airport of Islamabad, decorated with the national flags of the two friendly countries.

In the first half of the day the Turkmen leader's cortege headed to the building of the Government House of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At the main entrance, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Shaking the hands, the Turkmen leader and the head of the government of Pakistan took place on a specially mounted podium. On the area, the official ceremony of meeting the honorary Turkmen guest took place.

Then the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has invited President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to enter the "Hall of celebrations" of the Government House. After the official photo on the background of the national flags of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan held talks in "one-to-one" format.

Then the talks continued in the meeting room in an expanded format with the participation of the government delegations of the two countries. After the talks in an expanded format a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held.

To the applause of those present President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif put their signatures under the Joint Communique.

The following documents were signed: Cooperation program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for 2016-2017; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the exchange of financial information related to the legalization of proceeds from crime and financing of terrorism, between the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan and the Financial Control of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; Memorandum of Understanding on further cooperation in the energy sector between the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of oil and gas and natural resources of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly (Turkmenistan) and the National University of Modern Languages ​​(Islamic Republic of Pakistan); Memorandum of Understanding between the International University of Humanities and Development (Turkmenistan) and the Institute of Peace and diplomatic knowledge (Islamic Republic of Pakistan); Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Peace and diplomatic knowledge (Islamic Republic of Pakistan); Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management (Turkmenistan) and the Institute of Information Technologies COMSATS (Islamic Republic of Pakistan); Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Centre for Political Science of the Institute of Information Technologies COMSATS (Islamic Republic of Pakistan).

After the ceremony of signing bilateral documents, Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of Turkmenistan made an address to the representatives of the media.

Then, the official reception was given in honor of the President of Turkmenistan.

In the afternoon, President of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Chairman of the National Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

After the meeting, President of Turkmenistan proceeded to the Palace «Aiwan-e Sadr» of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Here, at the main entrance, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain. After a joint photo on the background of the national flags of the two countries, the President of Pakistan hosted the Turkmen-Pakistani summit in "one-to-one" format in his “Working room”.

In continuation of the meeting held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mamnoon Hussain marking with satisfaction the ongoing dynamics of Turkmen-Pakistani relations, confirmed the continued intention of the two countries to bring them to a qualitatively new level, corresponding to modern realities and the existing multifaceted potential partnership. The sides also exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Then the talks continued in the "Hall of meetings" in an expanded format with the participation of the official delegations of the two countries.

Upon concluding the meeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mamnoon Hussain confirmed the mutual willingness of Turkmenistan and Pakistan to further enhance fruitful cooperation, which meets the mutual interests and the goals of prosperity and sustainable development in the regional dimension.
