PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN COMPLETED HIS OFFICIAL VISIT TO PAKISTAN

On March 17, 2016 there was the second and final day of the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. 

        

In the first half of the day, President of Turkmenistan and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan visited together one of the most popular mountain resorts in the country - an area Marie which is about 50 kilometers from Islamabad, where is the residence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Here the presentation of promising projects took place to develop transport and communication network between Pakistan and Central Asia, where Turkmenistan is playing a leading role, not only due to favorable geographical position, but also due to the initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the UN level on the creation of inter-regional transport corridors.

         It is in the context of support by the Pakistani side of Turkmen leader's geostrategic initiatives and ambitious long-term plans, President of the National Road Organization of Pakistan Shahid Ashraf Tarar submitted the most advantageous from economic point of view projects of land transport communications that will promote intensive economic integration in the region.

          After the presentation was completed, the motorcade of President of Turkmenistan headed for the Islamabad International Airport, where, after warm farewell with the accompanying Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Turkmen leader left for home.

         A business forum with the participation of the representatives of state bodies and business circles of Turkmenistan and Pakistan took place in the Conference Centre of Islamabad «Ramada» hotel on March 17.

         Among the participants of the business forum - Minister of Commerce of Pakistan Khurram Dastgir Khan, State Minister of Oil and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan, chairman of the Investment Chamber Miftah Ismail, representatives of nearly 70 companies specializing in the oil and gas industry, health and medical industries, food industry, construction, sports, textile industry and agriculture.

          The composition of the Turkmen delegation included representatives of various ministries and departments - Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, Health and Medical Industry, Agriculture and Water Resources and the Ministry of Industry, the State Concern "Turkmengaz", Chamber of Commerce, the State Sports Committee, the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

         During the meeting, representatives of business circles of Pakistan were informed of the growing potential of the Turkmen economy, the progressive reforms implemented in recent years in various fields of economic complex, as well as of favorable terms of investing and doing business in Turkmenistan.

 

Within the framework of the forum, which was held in constructive atmosphere, representatives of the ministries and departments, public and private companies of Turkmenistan held bilateral meetings with their Pakistani counterparts, during which the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the framework of the new contracts, the possible directions of further development of cooperation.
