PRESIDENT GURBANGULY BERDIMUHAMEDOV WAS AWARDED THE TITLE OF HONORARY DOCTOR OF POLITICAL SCIENCES OF THE LEADING UNIVERSITY OF PAKISTAN

On March 16, in the Palace «Aiwan-e Sadr» of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan the ceremony of conferring the President of Turkmenistan the title of “Honorary Doctor of Political Sciences” of the «Kayd-e-Azam» University was held.

President of Turkmenistan and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan went to the designated room at the fifth floor of the Palace «Aiwan-e Sadr». Here, two heads of states met the Vice-rector of the University «Kaýd-e-Azam» Javed Ashraf.

After an exchange of greetings, Vice-rector of the University requested the leaders of the two countries to enter the Hall of celebrations. Accompanied by a Guard of Honour President of Turkmenistan and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, entered the hall and took special places on the stage.

National anthems of the two countries were played. Then, a ceremony of awarding the President of Turkmenistan with the academic title of "Honorary Doctor of Political Sciences» of the University «Kaýd-e-Azam» of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been held in the Hall of celebrations. On the auspicious occasion representatives of the scientific community of Pakistan, the faculty of the University, students and members of the official delegation of Turkmenistan were brought together.

Vice-rector of the University Javed Ashraf, on behalf of the participants warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and introduced the audience with the large-scale scientific activities of the President of Turkmenistan.

Then it was announced the decision on awarding the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the academic title of "Honorary Doctor of Political Sciences» of the University «Kaýd-e-Azam», unanimously adopted by the members of the University Academic Council. The Turkmen leader was awarded with this high rank for the great personal contribution to the strengthening of friendly relations between the fraternal Turkmen and Pakistani people, outstanding achievements in the development of bilateral relations in the field of science and education.

To the applause of the ceremony participants, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain presented the Turkmen leader the corresponding diploma.

The floor was given to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. After welcoming the participants, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the leadership of the University «Kaýd-e-Azam» for granting him the lofty title of "Honorary Doctor of Political Sciences."

In his speech, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he regarded this as a highly appreciated achievements of the Turkmen people, who work tirelessly in the interests of all mankind, and as evidence of the high level of fraternal relations between the two countries. Speech by the Turkmen leader was heard with great attention and met with a storm of applause.
