Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Ambassador of Malaysia to Turkmenistan

On April 27, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Turkmenistan, Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ahmad Tajuddin.

During the meeting, the parties noted the consistent development of ties between the two countries in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

It was emphasized that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the Malaysian company Petronas, which has accumulated significant experience in the oil and gas sector.

The diplomats confirmed the effectiveness of cooperation in education. Hundreds of students from Turkmenistan are studying at universities in Malaysia. Under an agreement with PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd, constructive cooperation is underway with the Petronas University of Technology. Specialists from Turkmenistan are also participating in trainings and seminars under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues in the context of upcoming meetings at the highest state and government levels.
